Equal Society Project “Journey to the World of Disabilities”

The Equal Society project, in cooperation with partners, the Directorate of Religious Communities in the Ministry of Interior and Joint Israel, aims to support and enhance the status of people with disabilities by introducing the general community to the world of people with disabilities and the challenges they face in terms of rights, duties, integration into society, the labor market and many others.

The Masira Fund participates in focusing and following up courses that aim to support and enhance the status of people with disabilities, with lectures from senior specialists in the field of disability in the country, meetings with clerics from monotheistic religions, learning about personal stories of people with disabilities and their families, organizing events and tours. Through this course, the participant gets to know the world of people with disabilities. At the end, each participant works on and leads a project with the aim of making a change towards a more just and equal society for all.

Two educational courses were opened in mid-July 2019 for clerics in the regions of Nazareth and Rahat, entitled “Journey to the World of Disabilities”. These are the third and fourth courses of the total courses that have been implemented since last year and which have had an impact on society by raising the social and cultural awareness of people with disabilities. The aim of these courses is to challenge the stereotypes of people with disabilities and promote their integration into society. The courses contain rich and varied contents hosted by senior specialists and professionals, which raise and address diverse issues related to people with disabilities. Mass projects are also being planned and built by the course participants, with imams and priests accompanying them in the process of implementing these projects in our Arab society in order to enable and improve the situation of people with disabilities, and to introduce the general community to their world and the challenges they face in various aspects, their rights, and work to integrate them into society and the labor market. All this, with the aim of making a change towards a just society with equal rights.
